What are the Different Categories of Candles and Why It Should Matter To Me?

Like we consider quality and comfort before buying shoes that we wear daily and when it comes to buying a pair of flip-flops for the beach, we just grab any pair because we don’t need them regularly. The same goes with candles, there are different types of candles and each serves a different purpose. Pillar candles come with maximum burning hours, they won’t run out easily when you burn them regularly, tealights candles come with shortest burning hours, they’re the best pick when you want to create a nice ambiance at night with a lot of candlelight. Jar candles come with lids and they’re the best ones for placing on your furniture as there is no risk of spillage and lastly designer candles, they will help you in creating centerpieces and enhancing the décor of your home.

Why Invest in an Expensive Perfume Candle When I Have Cheaper Options?

Like we have always been taught to settle for quality over quantity when it’s about people or things, the same rule applies to aroma candles. If you run after best-looking candles with the strongest scent throw available at cheaper prices, then this will be a total waste of money because the candles must be made of poor quality waxes and lead wicks that will end up making your space toxic. Whereas a good quality fragranced candle might be a bit expensive but it’s definitely worth the price because of being crafted with premium quality wax blends and lead-free cotton wicks.

How Many Scented Candles Should I Burn in My Room?

This one is the most important question and some people often complain that there is no fragrance in a candle. So, the total number of aromatic candles you should be burning so that the entire room smells good depends upon the size of the room. One scented candle might be enough for a small room or bathroom, but for a larger room or hallway, you should burn at least two to three scented candles together.

Why I Can’t Smell My Scented Candle?

This one question tops our list, a lot of people complain that they can’t smell the fragrance in their room. To help them out we simply asked what they were doing with their candles, so it came out that some were burning the candle for just 15-20 min that too in a large room and immediately extinguished the candle when they couldn’t smell the fragrance. First of all, you need to burn a scented candle for a minimum of two hours before judging the fragrance, the second option could be try to burn it in a small room and then check the fragrance.

There is Black Smoke Coming Out From My Scented Candle? How Should I Fix It?

When you don’t trim the wick before burning scented candles then it may start producing soot. Always trim the wick ¼ inch before lighting fresh or previously burnt candles, if you want to burn your candles for more than 4 hours then also extinguish the flame at intervals of 4 hours, let the candle cool, trim the wick and relight. Place the candles away from drafts as they may cause the candles to burn unevenly and can create smoke.

What is the Benefit of an All Cotton Wick?

You may think that color and fragrance makes a candle but the most important thing in a candle is the wick. The whole burning process of a candle depends upon the wick, so a larger wick made of may create smoke and a smaller wick may lead to tunneling in a candle. You should always check if the wicks are made with 100% cotton because a lead wick may create toxic smoke that may be harmful to your health. This is why we use 100% all cotton wicks in our candles.

Why Does My Candle Form A Tunnel When It Burns?

Tunneling in candles is very common, it is also known as a “melt ring”. It happens when a candle burns only from the center creating thick wax residual around the walls of a jar candle or a pillar candle because the wax did not melt all the way across the edges. To prevent tunneling in any candle, let your candles burn for at least one hour per inch of the diameter and let the wax melt pool reach across the edges.

Why Beeswax Candles are more Expensive than Normal Candles?

Beeswax candles are made of beeswax, which is a sub product from bees work. Beeswax is natural, biodegradable, has a strong scent throw and lasts for twice longer comparing to an average paraffin candle. The natural properties and premium quality make beeswax candles a little expensive than average scented candles but they’re surely worth the price.

Are All Beeswax Candles the Same?

No, not all beeswax candles are the same. Some candle brands mark their candle as “beeswax candles” by just using 51% beeswax and 49% chemical wax blends. Not only they use other waxes but they also include metal core wicks along with chemical fragrance oils, whereas a pure organic beeswax candle is supposed to have 100% beeswax and natural essential oils.
